Supporting Social-Emotional Development During Transitions

Transitions – whether daily routines or significant life events – can be tricky times for young children. When young children face transitions such as starting childcare, moving to a new home, shifts in the family/ caregiving structure or welcoming a new sibling, they may feel anxious, confused, or overwhelmed. Their world can feel unpredictable, so support for their social-emotional development from their key caregivers is essential. Supporting them through these changes will provide your child with a sense of security and well-being.
