Summary: Putting on a light show provides the opportunity to improve your baby’s visual development and their fine motor skills.

For this activity you’ll need a torch/flashlight.

  • Shine the torch onto various objects, e.g. toys, shoes, walls, floors.
  • Talk to your baby while moving the torch around, e.g. “Where did the light go?” or “What will we look at next?”
  • For some added colour, wrap some tissues paper or a sheer scarf around the torch and secure with tape or elastic bands. Do not leave coverings on for extended periods of time.
  • Incorporate torches and lights into other activities.
