Dads discover playgroup a great first social network for their families

Traditional parenting roles continue to change, resulting in more fathers working flexible hours, spending more time with their children and adopting the role of primary carer.

Many dads are discovering that playgroup can help with the socialisation and development of their child, as well as with offering critical support and a social network for both them and their child.

With Father’s Day coming up this Sunday, we interviewed several dads who shared their stories about how playgroup is making a positive difference for them and their children.

Read their stories and watch a video of dads at playgroup.

Teach your child resilience: how to ‘bounce back’

To children, all experiences are new. Therefore, they may overreact to positive feelings and they may not know how to react to negative feelings such as anger, frustration, guilt, or disappointment. While you can support your child to succeed in life, it is equally important to teach them how to cope with the things they cannot control.

Read more for eight ways you can teach your child resilience and build on their strong character.

How to make Play Dough - watch our new video

Play dough offers many creative possibilities and can be lots of fun for children (and adults). Parents/carers can sit down with young children and show them different ways to manipulate play dough, and encourage them to play with it themselves. Talking with the children about the texture of the play dough can assist their language development.

How to make Play Dough is the most popular activity on our website and now we have a video that shows you how to make this recipe.
