Summary: “Fuzzy Furry Feelings” is an activity that provides a great opportunity for your baby to experience a variety of sensations, all whilst creating emotional bonds with you.

For this activity you will need a wide variety of different textured material, e.g. silk, calico, any items you may find.

  • Place your baby on your lap and show them how to feel the objects before gently placing them in your baby’s hands.
  • Encourage your baby to explore the material and talk to them about what it feels like, e.g. soft, smooth, bumpy, rough.
  • Make a ‘feely’ book for your child by gluing different textured items on pieces of cardboard before punching holes through and tying it with a ribbon.
  • Make a ‘feely’ play mat by sewing patches of textured material together.
