Kate Guthrie loves playgroup for the support and encouragement parents provide each other on a regular basis.

She takes her kids –Lucas, 4, and Toby, 1 ½ -- to Oatley West 1, the same playgroup she and her mother attended 40 years ago.

Both she and her mum, Christine, appreciate what playgroup offered them: the chance to chat with other parents and encourage one another along the way. “To have that support from a lovely group of mums has been the best help. I am really grateful that playgroup provided us with the framework to continue to meet up each week.”

Kate says she sees the strengths of those bonds with her mum, who continues to maintain friendships from her own playgroup days.

Additionally, Kate loves the reliable opportunity for her children to socialise in a safe and all-weather facility. She says, “My kids learn how to follow simple instructions and rules – sit down at the table for morning tea, sit in a circle to sing songs. They learn how to share toys. And they also enjoy the craft activities.”
