Materials:
- 10 brightly coloured scarves (you can also use square fabric pieces)
- An empty tissue box or a clean ice cream container
Instructions:
Introduce the scarves into the empty box (if you’re using something other than a tissue box, make sure it has a hole on the top). Leave the ends of the scarves poking out, as your baby will enjoy holding on to them and pulling them out.
This activity is great for developing hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills, two essential skills your baby needs to master before learning how to write. Playing with a scarf box will strengthen your baby’s hand muscles, needed later on to hold a pencil.
Tip: You can try talking to your baby about the different colours of the scarves, their textures and patterns, how they feel differently on your fingers.
